Patients
experiencing physical challenges because of illness or injury can
resume many of their normal daily activities with the help of Rehabilitative
Services. Certified therapists work with patients on an inpatient
or outpatient basis to build strength, regain skills and maximize
independence.
Physical Therapy
Certified physical therapists use exercise to help patients recovering
from illness or injury regain strength and mobility.
Occupational Therapy
Certified occupational therapists help patients relearn daily
living skills and adjust to changes in their abilities. With the
aid of a life-sized 'house,' complete with kitchen, bedroom, living
room, patio and car, occupational therapists assist with wheelchair
or walker use, getting in and out of automobiles, and moving safely
throughout the home environment. Before a patient is discharged,
a therapist conducts a safety inspection of his or her home to
prevent falls and other injuries and to maximize accessibility.
Speech and Language Pathology
These certified therapists assists patients who, because of stroke
or head injury, have a diminished ability to speak and understand
spoken words.
