At East Jefferson General Hospital's Breast Care Center, we understand that the little things in life are the most precious, like family dinners, a night out with your friends or watching your children grow up. At the Breast Care Center, we do everything we can to make sure that you don't miss out on any of life's little gifts.

If you're like most women, you don't look forward to your annual mammogram. You have the test done, then wait days or weeks for the results. If you need additional tests, the wait and worry start all over again.

At the Breast Care Center, things are very different. We're dedicated to providing fast, accurate test results and personalized care in a comfortable, friendly atmosphere. From your personal breast care nurse to an approach that encourages faster diagnosis and treatment, the Breast Care Center strives to make your mammograms and follow-up care as anxiety free and pleasant as possible.

Breast Care Nurses
Your Breast Care Nurse is your advocate from discovery to recovery. You'll meet with her each time you visit the center. She'll answer your questions and address any concerns you might have about your mammogram and breast health. Should breast cancer be diagnosed, she's your advocate and liaison with the members of your care team.

Dedicated Radiologists
Our radiologists are medical doctors who specialize in reading mammography films. If you have had previous mammograms at EJGH or bring your films from another facility, they can usually provide results within one working day.

Digital Mammography
The Breast Care Center's cutting edge digital mammography equipment provides accurate, rapid results. A Computer Aided Diagnostic (CAD) system is used with digital scans to provide a computerized second reading in addition to the traditional reading by the radiologist. Mammograms are performed by experienced technologists, all of whom are certified in mammography by the American College of Radiology.
