Yoga may seem trendy and new, but it is actually a discipline that
has been practiced for over 3,000 years. The word yoga literally
means to 'yoke' or bring together the mind, body and spirit.
More than a physical exercise, yoga presents a variety of benefits.
For the body, yoga offers improved flexibility and balance. Blood
pressure and heart rate decrease and lung capacity increases. Many
who practice yoga report improved overall physical endurance.
For the mind and spirit, yoga can significantly decrease stress
and anxiety. Some say their mental abilities, including focus and
concentration, are improved by the practice of yoga.
The best thing about yoga is that almost anyone can do it. If you're
