The Foundation

The Foundation is the philanthropic arm for East Jefferson General Hospital. The generous support of the community provides the resources necessary for EJGH to maintain its excellence in technology, facilities and programs. Every gift, no matter how large or small, makes a difference in the lives of our patients.

The mission of East Jefferson General Hospital Foundation is to generate philanthropic support for East Jefferson General Hospital through advocacy, education, communication and active ambassadorship to the community.

The Foundation is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization governed by a community board.  All contributions to the Foundation are tax deductible.  The Foundation has supported important programs and projects such as the EJGH Wellness Center, Pastoral and Palliative Care, Elder Advantage, CARE Channel and diagnostic and medical equipment.

Barbara Brown was at work in Guest Services on a cold Friday morning in December 2006 when she received the frightened call from her granddaughter that the house was on fire.  Barbara rushed home and stood in her driveway, wearing fireman’s boots to keep her feet dry, as she watched everything she owned burn.  Neighbors began bringing blankets, clothes, and shoes for her and her granddaughter and great-grandchildren.  [ more ]
