Founded in 1972, shortly after EJGH opened its doors, the Auxiliary supports the aims and objectives of the hospital. Today, there are over 350 Auxiliary members who contribute time, talent and monetary support.

Yearly and lifetime Auxiliary memberships are available to anyone who wishes to join. A one-year membership is $15. A lifetime membership is $100 and may be paid over the course of one year. Members receive Pulse Line, a quarterly newsletter that keeps members up-to-date with messages from the Auxiliary president, a calendar of events, committee activities and other news. Auxiliary members also receive a complimentary subscription to Examiner, the hospital's quarterly magazine.

Activities
The Sunshine Boutique
The Sunshine Boutique is the hospital's gift shop. It is owned by the Auxiliary and staffed by Team Members and volunteers. The boutique carries an extensive array of gifts, collectibles, decorative items and greeting cards. There is a florist on staff who designs floral arrangements and decorative potted plants. Great Lady/Great Gentleman Awards Luncheon
Since 1975, the Auxiliary has sponsored the Great Lady/Great Gentleman Awards to honor outstanding volunteers in the Greater New Orleans area. Proceeds from the event fund a nursing scholarship program, a continuing education and re-certification program for nurses, and special hospital projects.

Nursing Scholarship Fund
The Auxiliary's nursing scholarship program pays for tuition, books and other expenses for students enrolled in nursing school. Nearly 200 nursing scholarships have been funded by the program.

Continuing Education Program
This program was organized by the hospital's nursing administration to assist nurses in obtaining mandatory re-certification. The Auxiliary raises funds for this endeavor.

Care-Ring
Care-Ring program volunteers make daily telephone calls to community members who are home bound, live alone, or are recuperating from surgery or illness.

Doctors' Day/Nurses' Day
The Auxiliary honors EJGH doctors and nurses on their own special days for the dedication they show to the hospital and its patients all year long.
